After Dragon*Con this year, I think I want to significantly slow down on the cosplay front. As I’ve gotten older, I’m realizing that I really don’t want cosplay to be what I’m known for.

Don’t get me wrong, I love making costumes and the like, but cosplay is a hobby, not a career. And even if you do manage to make it a career, it’s very similar to modelling in that it has an expiration date.

I plan on getting back into painting and drawing like I used to be. Lately, working on costumes has been a chore rather than something I really find myself wanting to do. Maybe I’ll get that spark back, but in the meantime I’d like to focus my energy on something I’ve been neglecting for far too long.

Hi Paige! I've been to some of your panels at various cons before and first want to say that you are really awesome :) Also I wanted to ask if you know of a good place to buy a shoulder length, slightly curly wig (for Katara from Avatar, in book 3). Any advice you can give would be amazing. Thanks so much!

As for a wig for Katara, I’d really check out Epic Cosplay’s selections. They’re my go-to wig store and they have really soft fibers. However, they’re a little on the expensive side but as far as cosplay wigs go, you really do get what you pay for. Their wigs are also ridiculously thick so you shouldn’t need to add wefts or anything from my experience.

Do you have any specific tips for a beginning cosplayer? I'm sorry if you've answered anything like this before^^;

I have a few basic tips for you!

1. Start off small. It’s very tempting to take on a large project right away but starting with something simpler is a good way to build your skills without getting in over your head.

2. Check out tutorials. There is, quite literally, a tutorial online for just about anything you may want to make. I recently had a friend make a pretty awesome Iron Man suit with very little armor experience at all. He just researched the heck out of all the tutorials he could find and it really helped him get an idea of what he needed to do.

3. Ignore what people think. At times it will seem like everyone is a critic in this community, but you should always be cosplaying for you. Do what you want, when you want, regardless of body type, skin color, etc.

Did you paint those boots? And if so, what materials did you use? I'm trying to get my own painted.

Sorry for the late response, but I did! I use a combination of liquitex paints (which are latex based) and fabric paint so that the boots will stretch and move without cracking apart. Hope that helps!

I may not have a lot of guts to say this with an identity but aside from your amazing talent with cosplaying, I find you quite attractive and would be honored to ever get a chance to work with you for a cosplay project sometime.
